Guy Pedersen - Bass me, Daddy-O

Guy Pedersen - "Daddy Jerk"
From Succés Vol. 1 (Musidisc, France, Late 60´s - Early 70´s)
Guy Pedersen is a french bassist generally best known amongst collectors and DJs for his cult library recordings on the Telemusic and Montparnasse 2000 (MP2000) labels. He also worked as a session player (i. e. for the virtuoso brazilian guitar player Baden Powell) and composed at least one soundtrack (for the obscure french movie Celeste).
Recently, I came across this orchestra LP on Musidisc, arranged and conducted by Pedersen, and had the chance to know some of his non-library work.
Half-naked, Bond girl-like mod chick with gun on the cover aside, you pretty know what to expect from this kind of record: orchestral versions of pop hits of the era, some good, some not so good. In this case, the result is above average, thanks to the talents of Mr. Pedersen.
Despite some less interesting tracks, like the version of the Beatles's "Penny Lane", there are excelent moods and grooves scattered troughout the LP. As usual with this type of record, the original tracks "hidden" amongst the pop tune hit versions are some of the most appealing. Here we bring you "Daddy Jerk", a Pedersen original, a great mod groover with nice beat, heavy horns and dope groovy flute. Check it out!
